“It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life,” country music singer and songwriter Carrie Underwood recently said in a letter to her fans.
In November, Underwood suffered a fall on the front steps of her home where she was reported to have broken her wrist. However, seven weeks later she reveals that the unfortunate accident is far more serious than she originally let on.
“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well,” Underwood reported. “I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
She is currently in recovery and undergoing physical therapy. However, how she will look after her injuries fully heal is still uncertain. Due to the extent of her injuries, her face may not look the same as it did. Yet true to her nature, Underwood views her circumstances with a grateful heart as she acknowledges her injuries could have been far worse.
Through it all, she isn’t letting this experience slow her down. In fact, she is heading into the studio early this month to begin working on some new music for 2018.
“I am determined to make 2018 amazing,” the upbeat artist confessed, “and I want to share things with you along the way.”
