     As 2017 is coming to a close, it is time to look back on the past year and everything that has happened. We wanted our followers put their mark on country music by voting for their top 10 favorite country music albums of the year. Perhaps the favorites were chosen for a specific memory from the year or if those albums brought about a smile, a laugh or a chance to connect to a specific song. So as the ball is about to drop, and 2018 is about to begin, let’s ring in the New Year with The Country Source’s fan-voted top 10 country albums of the year.

10. “This Ones For You” by Luke Combs

     Luke Combs found immediate success with his debut album in which he co-wrote all 12 of the songs. “Hurricane” reached No. 1 on Country Airplay and debuted at No. 5 on Billboard 200. This album provides a combination of pop and R&B while still dating back to the past of country music. Luke Combs represents all of his songs, and he isn’t afraid to open up to tell his story. 

9. “Brett Young” by Brett Young

     Brett Young’s album, released in February of 2017, debuted at No. 2 on Top Country Albums. Brett was a co-writer of 11 out of the 12 songs on the album and he believes honesty is important within music as he has lived 10 of the experiences from his songs, and can completely relate to the other two songs. Brett Young had a big year not only with the release of his album, but he toured with Lady Antebellum and Thomas Rhett.

8. “Happy Endings” by Old Dominion

     “Happy Endings” is Old Dominion’s second studio album which saw No. 1 on top Country Albums. Their singles on the album included: “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” which finished No. 8 on Country Airplay and “Written in the Sand” which saw No. 11 on Country Airplay. This album added and introduced a new level of Old Dominion compared to their previous album. This new album is filled with real life honesty with a splash of their typical wit.

7. “Losing Sleep” by Chris Young

     “Losing Sleep” is Chris Young’s seventh studio album and there is no surprise as to why he keeps finding success. The sound of his album is pop country as he tries to stay current with what the fans want. He helped write all of the songs on the album and it debuted at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. Aside from success of his new album, Chris Young also became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, a significant accomplishment in country music.

6. “Brett Eldredge” by Brett Eldredge

     Brett Eldgredge has many roles in the music industry which range from singer, songwriter and part-producer. His fourth studio album, “Brett Eldgrede,” was a hit amongst fans. It peaked at No. 1 on U.S. Country Charts. The two singles on the album include: “Somethin’ I’m Good At” and “The Long Way.” This album found such great success due to Brett’s ability to open up more in his songs then in previous albums and to deliver each song with such passion.

5. “What Makes You Country” by Luke Bryan

     With a release date in December, Luke Bryan’s sixth studio album, “What Makes You Country” shot up the charts quick for country music fans. Luke Bryan went back to more of the classic country sounds with this album. He decided to give fans a look into what really makes him country. 2017 also gave Luke Bryan CMT Performance of the Year with “Want to Want Me.”

4. “Current Mood” by Dustin Lynch

     The fans think that their “Current Mood” of country music definitely lies within Dustin Lynch in his third studio album. The second single from the album, “Small Town Boy,” was the fastest rising single of his career and it sat at the top of the charts for four weeks straight. The single was even certified Gold by the RIAA.

3. “Life Changes” by Thomas Rhett

     The release of Thomas Rhett’s third studio album, “Life Changes,” brought about a lot of success for him in 2017. Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes album is compacted with a collection of stories, tributes, and lyrics that relate to the people close to him. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 which gave Rhett his first chart-topping album. This album was also the first country album to reach the top of Billboard 200 in 2017. Not only did his music career bring him happiness, but he also became a father to his adoptive daughter, Willa Gray, and biological daughter, Ada James.

2. “Kane Brown-Deluxe Edition” by Kane Brown

     The Deluxe Edition of Kane Brown’s debut album was released in 2017 with the addition of 4 new songs. This deluxe album and songs from the album became a first when all of them reached No. 1 on all five main Billboard country charts. This album details who Kane Brown is and what he has been through. It is a storytelling album which makes the fans fall in love with him and his deep voice.

     The fan-favorite for 2017 Country album was Kip Moore and “Slowheart.” This is his third studio album and he describes the sound of the album to be a combination of Americana, rock and the storytelling style of country music. Kip Moore helped produce this album as well as co-write most of the songs. The album’s lead single, “More Girls Like You,” found success on Country Airplay.
