Bryan in the hot seat over Kangaroos

Luke Bryan has caught himself in the hot seat starting off 2018. Since his live Instagram reveal of his Christmas gift, two baby kangaroos to wife Caroline, animal rights organizations, such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have spoken out condemning Bryan.

Bryan bought the pair of baby kangaroos, named Margo and Todd, for Caroline to be a part of Brett’s Barn, the couple’s personal animal rescue project named in memory of their infant niece, who died early last year. The farm and animals live on the couple's property outside Nashville, include rescue goats, donkeys and ponies.

In an official statement, PETA vice president Colleen O’Brien is calling for an investigation into how Luke acquired the kangaroos.

“Baby kangaroos belong in their mothers’ pouches, not in gift bags. These joeys have complex needs, including specialized diets and room to roam—they are not toys and will only become more difficult to care for as they grow older. PETA is calling for an investigation into where these kangaroos came from and stands ready to help Luke Bryan right this wrong and move these vulnerable marsupials to a reputable sanctuary.”

Bryan revealed the two kangaroos named Margo and Todd were adjusting just fine to their new life. No official word from Bryan’s camp yet in response to PETA.
