Keith Urban - Throwback to 1999
The year was 1999, and not many knew this blonde haired guitar picking singer, at least not yet. In a newly discovered video you see a man and his guitar just pickin’ away. That man is none other than the guitar slaying Keith Urban.
Spence Manor in Nashville posted a video on their Facebook page from 1999 of Keith pickin’ his guitar and singing “Shelby County Jail”. The rare footage shows Keith donning short hair, a tight t-shirt, blue jeans and cowboy boots. He is almost unrecognizable, but not for long once you hear the guitar playing and singing.
Keith played the Webb Pierce Pool at Spence Manor during the Country Radio Seminar (CRS). Urban and Trick Pony were booked for an Emerald sound party.
Urban released his first solo album in the United States in October of 1999. His first single off the album, “It's a Love Thing” was released May 27th, 1999. The US album is Urban's breakthrough album, as it produced four singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In order of release, the singles were "It's a Love Thing", "Your Everything", "But for the Grace of God", and "Where the Blacktop Ends".
One thing is certain, times have changed but what hasn't changed is Urban’s amazing talent and his love for music. He always plays with such passion, which is evident from the video and seeing him perform now.
