On This Day in 1996

Throwback to 1996 with Brooks and Dunn when they topped the Country charts and were #1 on this day with their version of “My Maria”.

“My Maria" is a song co-written by B. W. Stevenson and Daniel Moore. Stevenson released "My Maria" as a single in August 1973.

"My Maria" reached number 1 on the US country charts and stayed there for three weeks before getting knocked out of the top spot by George Strait’s “Blue Clear Sky”. Their version of the song appears on their album “Borderline”, released in 1996 on Arista Records.

Brooks & Dunn’s version was the number one country song of the year in 1996 according to Billboard, and won the duo its second Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Vocal Group or Duo.

Excuse us while we go celebrate this throwback classic by pretending we can hit those high notes like Ronnie!
