Randy Houser Wraps up 2016 in Minnesota

by JQ

Minnesota country music fans had two choices Saturday night. One, sitting at home wishing for warmer weather wrapped up in a blanket or Two, get dressed up and head to Mystic Lake to see Randy Houser. Myself and hundreds of other music lovers chose the latter.

Looking around the showroom there was a mix of young and old ready to have a good time and get lost in some music. Houser, whose current single "Chasing Down A Good Time" off his latest album 'Fired Up' lit up the stage with his smile and boyish charm.

Randy's energy, voice and light show had the audience up on their feet dancing and singing along to hits like his 2009 single "Boots On". Houser took the time to engage the crowd, for instance a concert goer had yelled something and Randy from the stage started laughing saying "...you are cracking me up, up here brother".

At one point Houser, ditching his band took the stage alone with his guitar and serenaded the crowd with an acoustic version of his 2014 hit song "Like a Cowboy". Randy's voice was perfection and left me with goosebumps.

Houser's great mixture of old ("My Kind of Country") and new songs ("We Went") along with his flashy smile and stage presence captivated the audience. Randy made you feel like we were all old buddies having a sing along. The perfect ending to a greatevening Houser chose to end with "Runnin' Outta Moonlight".

The only downfall to this show was how short the set was. I overheard people saying they wished Randy would've played longer. It's evident from the show Minnesota loves Randy and we can't wait to see more from him.
